I am a lifelong student of the equine body, dedicated to understanding its intricacies through both art and science. My journey began with childhood artwork and culminated in a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. I have illustrated anatomical educational material for several equine professionals, using sketching and illustrating to comprehend and convey complex concepts. This passion for visualizing anatomy led me to integrate the principles of neurology, embryology, and motion into my practice. By applying these concepts through a multi-focal lens, I have developed tools that are effective for both elite endurance horses and everyday riding companions.
My path to becoming a global educator was unplanned; my sole intention has always been to help horses. The transformative impact of my methods on countless horses worldwide compelled me to share this knowledge in a practical and accessible way.
In my role as an equine therapist and educator, I offer efficient, teachable tools, visuals, and techniques for interacting with the equine body, ensuring they are memorable and comprehensible for students. My artistic perspective, viewing the horse through the lens of geometric shapes, combined with a deep understanding of equine anatomy, has anchored me in the field of body tensegrity. I believe the body communicates through art, and recognizing movement and related structures is essential for addressing physical issues. My classes are designed to impart this knowledge, and I am committed to supporting my students and other ethical equine professionals in their journeys.
Equine Tensegrity Balancing Therapy is a therapeutic modality that views the horse's body as a cohesive, integrated structure. It treats all bodily systems, tissues, and structures equally, recognizing their importance in maintaining a three-dimensional form capable of coherent motion against gravity. This approach emphasizes balancing structural integrity with the effective transfer of forces throughout the body, focusing on the oscillation of load as a cornerstone of restoration. The therapy also highlights the vital role of fluid and air movement, acknowledging their significance alongside living tissues.
Central to Equine Tensegrity Balancing Therapy is the interaction with the nervous system. By addressing the system's conduction and communication pathways, the therapy aims to reshape the body, removing cortical smudging and reintegrating somatosensory awareness. This alters the brain's perception of pain, midline orientation, and locomotion. The modality operates within the constraints of evolutionary and embryological development, using principles of tensegrity to create a harmonious, self-sustaining, and mobile body.
A significant aspect of this therapy involves introspection and proprioception, tools that facilitate bodily change. By mapping locomotion patterns and identifying postural restrictions, practitioners can pinpoint where tensegrity is compromised. Neuroplasticity and fascial remodeling are harnessed to create lasting improvements. Ultimately, Equine Tensegrity Balancing Therapy aims to treat the body holistically, restore balance, enhance locomotion, and sustain the horse's health through integrated and long-lasting changes.
